Biomedical Waste Recycling
Biomedical or hospital waste contains infectious materials from the treatment of humans, animals, or biological research. Due to its infectious nature, careful processing is essential.
Biomedical waste is generated while diagnosing, treating, testing of humans and animals. Also while conducting experiments on bacteria and viruses, the equipment if not managed probably can cause diseases and infections to not only humans but also animal and plant life.
The government has made strict guidelines which are needed to be followed to protect the people working in this field from any harm or permanent health hazards. These SOPs have be put in place so that all the waste generated is properly disinfected, autoclaved and recycled if reusable or incinerated. The chemicals and water used to disinfect and autoclave are treated in an effluent treatment plant.
